Russia planted spring grains throughout over 22 mln ha — Ministry of Agriculture

As of May 23, Russia planted all spring crops throughout the general areas of 39.3 mln ha, or 75.1% of the forecast (on the same date in 2018 — 33.9 mln ha), declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, agrarians planted spring grains throughout 22.3 mln ha, or 75.5% of the forecasted areas (in 2018 — 19.3 mln ha). In particular, the planted areas under spring barley reached 6.7 mln ha (85.7%), spring wheat — 8.4 mln ha (68.6%), corn for grain — 2.4 mln ha (94.1%), and rice — 164.7 thsd ha (85.7%).

In addition, Russia planted sunflower seed throughout 7.1 mln ha (92%), spring rapeseed — 1.2 mln ha (81.1%), and soybeans — 1.9 mln ha (61.3%).

Also, agrarians planted sugar beet throughout 1.1 mln ha, or 99.3% of the plan.
