Russia: Ministry of Agriculture increased the forecast of grain exports in the current season

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation increased the forecast of grain exports in the current season to 44 mln tonnes, as opposed to the previous forecast of 42 mln tonnes, declared the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Oksana Luth on May 23.

At the same time, the estimations of wheat exports remained unchanged, and totaled 37 mln tonnes.

According to her, the Ministry of Agriculture managed to establish the rapid system for gathering of grain residues in each region. O.Luth explained that the figures of grain residues are the main tool of the Ministry to forecast the further grain exports, because securing of the domestic needs for grains, and exporting of the surpluses is still the main task of the officials.

Also, in the current MY the exports of Russian grain crops in monetary terms can reach a little more than 9 bln USD, due to the favourable price situation on the global market.

As for the forecast of Russian grain exports in 2019/20 MY, the Deputy Minister said that to date the figures vary at the level of 45 mln tonnes. In particular, the exports of wheat will reach 36 mln tonnes.
