Iran and China provided the major increase in revenues of the Kazakh grain exports


According to the International Trade Center, for the first three quarters of 2018 the revenues from the exports of grain crops and its by-products from Kazakhstan reached 853.1 mln USD, an increase of 64% compared with the same period of the previous year (519.9 mln USD), and up 3% compared with the whole 2017 (829.4 mln USD). Uzbekistan, Iran, Tajikistan, China and Azerbaijan formed the TOP-5 leaders in the export structure of Kazakh grains, and for 9 months of 2018 they provided nearly 68% of the export revenues. At the same time, Iran and China became the key destinations, which provided the major upward rates of export revenues.

Thus, in the first quarter of 2018 the exports of Kazakh grains to Iran reached 91.1 mln USD, up 2.8 times compared with the average quarterly figures for 2017 (32.6 mln USD). In the second and third quarters of 2018, the revenues significantly decreased, but still exceeded the figures of the same periods of the previous year (up 3.4 times, and up 31%, respectively).

Also, in 2018 Kazakhstan faced the systematic increasing of the revenues from the supplies of grains to China. In the third quarter of 2018, the export volumes reached 29.8 mln USD, up 4.6 times compared with the same period of the previous year (6.5 mln USD). At the same time, previously Kazakhstan reached the similar export volumes to China in the first quarter of 2014 (30.8 mln USD). Generally, in 2018 the average quarterly revenues from Kazakh grain exports to China increased by 68% compared with 2017.
