Russia: Ministry of Agriculture increased the forecast of grain harvest in 2019

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia officially confirmed the growth of the forecast of the general grain harvest in Russia in 2019 to 118 mln tonnes, declared the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Patrushev on February 14.

Taking into account the recent statistics figures that the Ministry received from various regions, there was a good reason to increase the forecast for the production of grains in the current year. The forecast increased by 5% compared with last year, which will completely cover the domestic needs of the country and enlarge the export potential, the Minister said.

As a reminder, on February 6 the Director of the Department of plant growing at the Ministry of Agriculture, Roman Nekrasov reported about some potential to improve the reporting estimations, referring to the updated figures received from regions.

The previous forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture about the general grain harvest in the current year totaled 108-110 mln tonnes.
