In 2019, Russia will harvest nearly 123.3 mln tonnes of grain crops, declared the Head of the analytical center at Rusagrotrans JSC, Igor Pavensky.
In particular, wheat production will reach nearly 78.6 mln tonnes of the reporting volumes, barley — 19.2 mln tonnes, and corn — 12.1 mln tonnes.
Due to the high grain prices in the current season, it is expected that Russia will increase the planted areas to 47.3 mln ha, against 46.3 mln ha last year. In addition, the forecast was also based on the fact that Russia planted winter crops throughout the record areas — 18 mln ha, against 17.55 mln ha in 2018. Taking into account the winter losses, in the current year the harvested areas of winter grains can reach 17.3 mln ha, up 0.4 mln ha compared with last year, the expert said.
According to I.Pavensky, the planted areas under spring grains will also exceed the last year results — nearly 30 mln ha, as opposed to 29.6 mln ha last year.
In terms of the absence of any serious weather-related calamities, in 2019 the general grain yield will become higher compared with last year, and even exceed the average figures for 5 recent years, the expert forecasted.
